Winter is a dolphin who lost her tail because of a crab trap. A doctor built a robotic tail so winter could swim. Winter still lives on, and she can still swim, but she needs to use her robotic tail. Winter was found when she was two months old, which is irregular.
How Winter Lost her tail
Winter was found washed up on a beach, with her tail stuck in a crab trap. The people at Clearwater Marine Aquarium took care of her, and kept her safe. One day. someone declared that Winter’s tail was too infected, and they had to cut it off so Winter could at least have a chance.
Winter’s New Tail
Winter’s tail is made up of the same kind of material as a human prosthetic. Winter needs this tail, but also needs to get used to it. Winter was swimming with her tail moving side to side, but dolphin’s usually go up and down. Winter’s tail has special gel inside, to make it more comfortable for her.
